Rene Tiffin

Rene Tiffin is the trainer and barn manager at Stoney Gate Farm. She has competed internationally at the upper levels of eventing for over six years and recently placed 4th at her first CIC** (FEI). Rene is active on the eventing circuit, successfully competing her own mounts and developing young horses for clients and sale. She has worked full-time as a rider and trained under world-renowned riders, including Phillip Dutton and Boyd Martin. Rene has also received instruction from Megan Moore, Kelly Towers, and other top coaches. She currently enjoys working under Ian Roberts and John MacPherson.

Rene has a solid dressage background and has been called by her coaches, “the one to watch, with everything it takes to make it to the top.”

Rene’s career in horses began as a working student for Megan Moore, an Advanced level eventer in Kentucky. She gained valuable experience in the sales industry, as well as furthering her skills with young horses. Rene was entrusted with several horses at a time to buy, train, compete, and sell under her coach’s guidance. In the early mornings, she worked for the legendary Bill Wofford, backing and exercising steeplechasers.

Over a year later, Rene moved on to work as a rider for Phillip Dutton. Riding up to twelve horses daily, she learned about fitness, training, horse care, and sales from one of the best 4* eventers of all time.

In August 2008, Rene moved home to Canada and began building her own business at Stoney Gate Farm.  Today, she runs a successful training, boarding, and sales program.  She is passionate about developing young horses up the levels and holds a sensitivity and understanding of many different types of horses.   Well educated in both Canadian and American sales markets, she also enjoys running the successful sales program at Stoney Gate.
